Questions & Answers

Ask a Question

Question:

Is this bench black? I need something of these exact dimensions for my DR but my dining room set is jet black & tan. I'd love to buy it but want to make sure it's as black as it appears. Thanks! Joni

Answer:

The legs of this bench are black, but as the top is the natural wood of the railroad tie, its color is varying shades of brown.

Question:

What is the finish on this piece? Will clothes snag on it?

Answer:

This rustic bench is a very unique and wonderful piece. It is finished with a light protective lacquer, but the surface is rough-hewn and true to its railroad tie roots. If you use some force to drag delicate or woven clothing along the edge, it might catch, but overall there are no splinters sticking out to grab you as you walk by.

Question:

Are the "modular legs" made from "old railway ties" as well. Or is are they something else?

Answer:

The legs are indeed made of recycled railway ties (solid wood), though they are carved to have the shape you see in the photo.
